Sylvester Stallone isn’t quite Expendable yet;recent celeb gossip
The following is a recent celeb gossip. Sylvester Stallone’s latest movie, Lionsgate action romp “The Expendables,” stomps every single new film this week to become the No.1 film with $35M debut.
Stallone has on several hats for this film; he is the writer, director and the principal star. In the movie, he guides a company of impossibly muscular (not so young) mercenaries who get involved in the plan to overthrow the murderous dictator of a make believe nation.
‘The Expendables’ delivers a powerful Action Film Fantasy Crew. The film includes action superstars such as Jet Li as well as Jason Statham (who has got the most screen time with Stallone). This particular movie additionally has appearances from Bruce Willis along with Arnold Schwarzenegger. You may envision, the meeting of Stallone, Willis, and Schwarzenegger in the picture was full of funny one liners. Although I don’t know if the length of Bruce Willis’s screentime justifies him to be in the movie poster. He scarcely breaks a sweat in the scene.
The cast also comprises of stars with 1980s roots such as Mickey Rourke, Dolph Lundgren and Julia Roberts’ brother, Eric Roberts, along with wrestler Steve Austin, ultimate fighter Randy Couture and former NFL footballer Terry Crews. Dolph Lundgren formerly played opposite Stallone in Rocky IV, so it’s only natural he plays a villainous role on this picture.
When filming the action sequences, Sly advised the ensemble not to hold back.
“I said, ‘You guys, we have to do something very physical without CGI that’s interesting to watch. I mean, we have to throw down,’” he recalled. “They were all for it.”
At some stage in filming, Stallone himself got a bit roughed up: He broke his neck and tore his shoulder when filming a combat scene with Austin. “I still have two more operations to go on my shoulder,” he reported.
All of us attempted to one-up one another on set, Stallone said, adding that all were afraid to fight Couture.
“Randy Couture is ferocious,” Stallone stated. “Randy went through a couple of individuals,” Austin added. “There were a few people who got carted off.” It’s really no big surprise to anyone, considering the fact that Couture was a tough star in the course of his ufc’s ultimate figher period.
If Stallone’s previous film “Rambo (2008)”, is any indication of how well this film is going to do, then the movie is on its way to earning more than one hundred million world-wide. According to boxofficemojo.com, Rambo took in $113M world wide, and Rambo’s opening weekend was just $18M. ‘The Expendables’ opening was in line with high expectations. The distributor Lionsgate was hoping for $30M.
The movie, naturally, performed best with older males that are nostalgic for ’80s action movies with high body counts and loud explosions. A sequel is apparently in the works.
Oddly enough, the chief villain of the movie is performed by Eric Roberts, whose renowned younger sis is actually Julia Roberts. Julia also had a movie opening this weekend. “Eat Pray Love” is the big-screen adaptation of a bestselling memoir about a woman’s international search for herself. “Eat Pray Love” opened with $23M.
If ‘The Expendables’ really does well, are we to count on a revival of 80′s super action pictures without any Computer effects? Can Stallone continue doing this right up until he receives his social security payments? Will the “Governator” Arnold Schwarzenegger return with a reprised role of Termintaor after he leaves Office? Well, if they do, I wish they at least utilize CGI to airbrush their pecks and biceps. I believed I saw some wringles in a few of the muscles scenes.
